Barnie Jordan, Jr. Memorial Highway

Twenty miles of Sumter Highway, U.S. 76-378, between Columbia and the Wateree River, was named the Barnie A. Jordan, Jr. Memorial Highway. Barnie Jordan was born in 1909 in Edgefield County and was a long-time resident of Richland County. During his 35 years as a general contractor, he built more the 1000 miles of roads, streets, and highway in South Carolina.
